Mr & Mrs Steyn

Posted in Photography | 2 comments

Weddings are and always will be one of my favourites of all the important life events. Months of planning to get that delicate details right all culminate into the beauty and  raw emotion you experience on the day.   Danielle and Dirk got married on the 23rd of March. It was just 2 weeks before my own wedding so I was feeling extra sentimental about about it all!  They got married on the Farm that Danielle grew up on in Ceres, Langfontein, where her mom runs a guest house on the farm. I was lucky enough to head there the Friday already with my amazing assistant, Kaydee. We got there...

Dirk & Danielle E-Session

Every time I get to photograph an amazing couple like this I am reminded of why I love my job. Not only do I get to capture these memories for these couples, I get to be a small part of it. Just for a glimpse in time, I get to know them and I get to see the love they have for each other. This fills my heart with happiness!   This weekend past I got together with Dirk and Danielle. I will be photographing their wedding in a few weeks and I absolutely can’t wait! They are getting married in Ceres at a farm right on top of the mountains. I can only imagine that this venue is going to...

Jacques & Zoë

Posted in Photography | 0 comments

I know I say this often, but I am absolutely in love with this shoot I did a couple of weeks back. Zoë is my soon to be sister-in-law and capturing her and Jacques’ love on camera has been such an honor!   They both graduated from Stellenbosch University last year. They met there – Zoë tutored Jacques and it wasn’t long before love started blossoming between the two of them.  Jacques is a wine maker and Zoë recently started her first job (also in the agriculture industry) so it was only fitting to do the shoot in the beautiful vineyards at JP Bredell...

Thompson Family

Posted in Photography | 0 comments

In November I ran a competition on my Facebook page which required liking my page and sharing the competition to win. I had over 100 entries which was way more than I ever expected! Once I had a list of names, I put them into random.org who then randomly picked a winner.  This was a great marketing importunity as I was offering a free shoot of the winners choice as a prize. The winner was Danielle Thompson, a hospitality student from Somerset West.   She wanted to do a family shoot and we chose a lovely December morning to go to the beach for this. The Thompson Family are such an...

Francois & Sylvia

From the first day that Sylvia contacted me to ask that I take her engagement photos I have been jumping around with excitement! Not only because she’s the big sister of a close friend, but also because they wanted something a little different that would force me out of my comfortable environment. You know what they say, a change is as good as a holiday! And while I love being in my comfort zone, it is just so exciting to experience new things.   Francois and Sylvia got engaged on Christmas day of 2011 and thought it good to have some festive undertones to their photos. We decided...

Nicola, Gareth & Abigail

Last year I photographed an amazing little baby girl called Abigail – you can see the photos from that shoot here. In December we had the opportunity to meet again when I got to take photos of her with her Mom and Dad. I’ve grown quite close with the Lombard family and it is always great to have clients come back for more!   We shot at Vergelegen, a wine farm in Somerset West that is absolutely stunning at this time of the year. After a stroll on the farm we found the perfect spot to put down a blanket under the old oak trees. I loved the soft and natural tones of this...

Sofia Newborn

I haven’t posted anything in a while, not because I haven’t been busy, on the contrary, I have been very busy! You know how quickly the end of the year goes by and before you know it, it is mid January in a new year already. December has been a magical month for me where I have gotten to take photos of some amazing individuals, families and couples.   The first I am writing about is little Sofia. She is the youngest person I have ever met! At only 12 days old when I took the photos, she is a tiny little person and deceivingly strong for her size. Her parents and big sister...

Inge Bridal Shoot

There’s just something special about bridal wear that makes my girl senses tingle! It must be because these dresses are worn on one of the most special days of a girl’s life. It’s the romance and love behind the dress that makes it special. Let’s not forget about the hard work that a bride puts in to look her very best on her wedding day. That’s why we take so many photos of this big day, to remember the blood sweat and tears, the romance, love and excitement that preparation for this day and the actual day itself brings us. It’s something I feel so...

Deco Dame – A Fashion Collection

I love making new friends! Whether I find them on Twitter, Facebook, or in my surroundings, it’s definitely one of my favourite activities! This year I had the honour of photographing my Twitter friend, Tams Weil’s fashion range. I shot last year’s range for her as well that you can view here, but this year’s shoot has turned into one of my all time favourite shoots so far!   Tams is an up and coming designer in her final year of college. She’s worth keeping an eye out for because this girl is going to make some waves in the industry! This year’s range...

Rocking Her Frock – Hanli

Posted in Photography | 0 comments

This weekend has been quite a busy one! On Sunday I had a shoot with Hanli, who after 3 years of being married, decided she needed more photos of her dress. In the world of photography and post-wedding life, these types of shoots are referred to as rock the frock, trash the dress (a bit more dramatic and a term that puts me slightly on edge!) and also known as fearless bridal shoots. Photo shoots like these have become more popular in recent years. This is partly because of the wedding day going by so quickly that it hardly leaves space to be creative with the photos, and partly because of...
